Admission Requirements
a) Doctor of Philosophy (PhD)
Candidates will only be admitted in the areas of specializations in which there are qualified supervisors. These areas will be advertised prior to the commencement of the application process.
Admission Requirements
Applicants into the PhD Programmes require a minimum of a master’s degree in the relevant discipline or equivalent from recognized Universities. Candidates who have attained a minimum of 3.50 CGPA on a 5 point scale with at least a ‘B’ grade in their dissertation in the Master’s programme or Master of Philosophy from a recognized University would be accepted.
Applicants are required to submit a certified copy of their MPhil/MSc/MA/MEd certificates together with the transcript and a minimum of 5 page or maximum of 10 page proposal and a work plan for the entire programme.
The second route allows exceptional students to enter the PhD programme directly from the master’s programme. Such candidates must have completed all master’s requirements except the thesis; they must have demonstrated a superior academic record (that is attained an average of 4.50 CGPA on a 5 point scale in all their master’s course work) and have satisfied other conditions (details of which can be obtained from the School of Postgraduate Studies).
b) Master’s Degree
Admission Requirements
Applicants for the master’s programme should hold an undergraduate degree or its equivalent with at least a second class degree or division II degree pass. Also, applicants with a Postgraduate Diploma Certificate in a related discipline may apply.
Applicants seeking admission into Master’s programme are required to submit a certified copy of their Bachelor degree/Postgraduate Diploma certificate (s) together with the transcript and a proposal stating their area of interest in the programme. A work plan for the entire programme is also required.
c) Postgraduate Diploma
Admission requirements
Applicants for the Postgraduate Diploma programme should hold an undergraduate degree.
Applicants seeking admission into the Postgraduate Diploma programme are required to submit a certified copy of their Bachelor degree certificate together with the transcript and a proposal stating their area of interest in the programme. A work plan for the entire programme is required.
